State law requires that all pesticides be registered with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture prior to being distributed, sold, offered for sale, or used in the state. This includes agricultural, industrial, and homeowner products such as insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, disinfectant, rodenticides, and any other product intended to kill, repel, or mitigate a pest.

The Pesticide Registration program area manages the registration of over 11,000 pesticides. If you have questions regarding which pesticides are currently registered in North Dakota, please contact the Department or search the North Dakota Pesticide Registration Database.

Our partnership with Kelly Registration Systems has concluded. The North Dakota Department of Agriculture will now be managing pesticide and fertilizer registrations internally to enhance efficiency and provide a more streamlined experience.

What This Means for You:

All services previously handled by Kelly Registration Systems will now be managed directly through the department using the License Application & Renewal Services (LARS) system.
While your existing account data has been preserved, a new login is required to access the system.
You can expect continued excellence in service with responsiveness and support.

The Department no longer accepts hard-copy pesticide labeling and Material Safety Data Sheets. Registrants should submit electronic documents (pdf) through the LARS system.

The Pesticide Registration program area issues Section 24(c) Special Local Needs (SLN) registrations and submits requests to EPA for Section 18 emergency exemptions.
